The message we need to give our Legislators is this...
Support Community Services, where WE ALL BELONG!
Here are the LOCAL COUNTY & COMMUNITY cuts from the Governor’s proposed budget that are going to happen unless “we the people” act NOW:
· Eliminate Basic Health Plan
· Suspend adult dental services
· Suspend podiatry services
· Suspend adult hearing services
· Suspend adult vision services
· Suspend reimbursement school based services (Physical, Occupational, & Speech Therapy) $13.2 million (Schools will still have to provide these services according to the IDEA; but will have to find funding somewhere else…?!)
· Suspend Physical/Occupational/Speech Therapy
· Suspend Medicare Part D co-pay
· Revise Individual and Family Support (Any family making over $42,000 per year will be eliminated.)
· Eliminate State Only Employment/Day Services for people with disabilities
· Reduce County Employment Contracts by another 3%
· Reduce Jobs at 21 Program by 75% in 2010, suspend by July 1, 2010
· Community Contract Reductions (Parent to Parent funding, technical assistance to self-advocates, families, senior caregivers, residential providers, employers reduced or eliminated)
· Reduce agency administrative rate by another 5%
· Eliminate add-on hours for special meal prep or incontinence if assistance is available from family or friends
· Housekeeping and laundry reduction an average of 6 hours per month for 7,100 in-home care clients
· Change eligibility levels for Medicaid Personal Care to nursing facility level of care, eliminate approximately 700 in-home & residential clients
